| Contact us if you wish to buy or upgrade a CCTV system and wish to ensure that it is fit for purpose and meets police requirements for evidence. We are able to arrange for an "independent" consultant to visit your premises to design a system that complies with the current Home Office CCTV Operational Requirements Manual. We can also organise three companies to tender for the installation. Companies we include in our tenders are pre-qualified to meet standards of technical expertise and competitiveness.
The CCTV Advisory Service is able, free of charge, to provide free guidance to organisations in London on the purchase and management of CCTV systems. We are a member of the Association of Security Consultants and do not sell or install CCTV but offer independent advice to our clients. The Police have stated that 80% of pictures from CCTV installations cannot be used for evidence as they do not meet the Home Office Operational Requirements. As consultants, we frequently audit CCTV systems and have found that new systems fail to meet the required standards as much as older systems. While picture quality is an issue there are certain other parameters that need to be correct. These include the size of persons on the screen, compression rates of recordings and compliance with the Data Protection Act. A major part of our work in the London area is to help organizations ensure that their systems are designed correctly in order that the money they spend on CCTV is not wasted.
